The Salad Spinner Art

So I love to paint with Mr.K but him being 2 and 1/2 and not understanding that carpet and walls shouldn't be painted even after mommy has requested he paint on paper about 100 times I've been searching for a way for him to still paint and be creative but without all the mess that comes along with it...
So I have an old salad spinner and one day he pulled it out and was whacking the knob on the top and giggling with delight that It made me realize it was kinda like the Spirograph I had when i was a kid.... So I took some paper and stuck it down to the "bowl" in the inside and then let him squirt some paint on the paper then closed it up and let him push the button till his hearts content... :) he had so much fun and the results were awesome...
We even used some of his art work to wrap Christmas gifts in this year....
I've seen salad spinners at Dollar stores and Value Village (second hand store) always has a shelf full of them..
you can use paper plates or coffee filters if you dont want to cut out circles to go in the bottom of your spinner...
I just found this image on line and perfect just in time for Valentines day.... just cut your paper into hearts once your done spinning and the paint is dry.....

Nov 16th Update ..... So now that I have two little ones.. 3 and 1 year old this is such a great way for both of them to get involved in some fun art...I uploaded some new images... I found some really cool metallic kids paints at Micheals the craft store... so pretty and perfect for this project ..

The baby blanket ...

So I've finally started to make my son's memory blanket...Mr. K will be three in September so it might be done just in time for his third birthday :)
I've had the squares cut out for months and finally found a free moment to start sewing the squares together...
I'm really happy with how its turning out so far... I unfortunately live in a city without a fabric store.. I know crazy right??? So my mom who is traveling to Vanocuver will be picking me up some fabric for the edges :)
For those who havent seen my other post about memory blankets , basically you cut up your childs clothing into squares and sew them together in a patch work style quilt..
I really had so many little outfits that I just loved and couldn't part with them, and I loved this idea so much that I put scissors to baby clothing and Im loving what I've done so far :)
I will post some pictures soon...
